Classifications

There are three classifications for matriculated students in the M.Div. and Certificate programs: (1) junior, a student with less than thirty-three credits; (2) middler, a student with thirty-three to sixty-four credits; and (3) senior, a student with sixty-five or more credits. During the semester of an M.A. student's graduation, the student is considered a senior, regardless of the total number of credits accumulated.

The seminary also employs certain other designations (for more information on how these designations interact with financial aid, see "Federal Stafford Loans" in the Financial Aid section):

Full-time: a student who is taking a minimum of nine credits per semester on the M.A.(T.S.)/M.A.C.M./M.Div./Certificate level, six credits per semester on the Master of Theology level, and eight credits per year or full-time dissertation research (a two-year dissertation completion track) on the Doctor of Ministry level.

Half-time: a classification associated with federal student aid (see the Financial Aid section).

Part-time: a student taking fewer credits than what is required for the above "full-time" designation.

Academic probation: a student whose grade point average on the Master of Arts (Theological Studies)/Master of Arts in Christian Ministry/Master of Divinity/Certificate of Graduation level is below 2.0. Continued unsatisfactory work while on probation may result in dismissal from school. It is expected that the course load will be reduced in keeping with the recommendation of the faculty. See the Student Handbook for specific information regarding academic probation. There is no academic probation for students in the Master of Theology and Doctor of Ministry programs.
