LibraryThe Calvary Baptist Theological Seminary Library has been developed around the seminary curriculum with the students' needs in mind. Biblical and theological studies comprise the greatest portion of the Library, which has holdings of over 72,000 volumes and active subscriptions to roughly 380 current periodicals. The collection also includes over 40,000 microforms and a rare book collection featuring a 1611 King James Bible. The Library catalog, indexed by Library of Congress listings, is an online public access catalog that may be accessed over the web (http://library.cbs.edu). A number of electronic resources are also available for students, such as FirstSearch, ATLA Religion Indexes, Christian Periodical Index, and Theological Journal Library. Adding flexibility to the Seminary's local holdings, the Library is a member library of SEPTLA, a cooperative network of theological libraries in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, generating access to over 2,000,000 volumes. This membership gives Calvary students borrowing privileges to each of these regional theological seminary libraries. The library offers a comfortable atmosphere for research. Tables and private carrols provide both power and high-speed internet access for those with notebook computers. Computer labA Windows 2000-based computer lab, situated in the classroom area, is available to students. The lab is equipped with e-mail, T-1 internet access, Bible language software (GRAMCORD, Logos, and BibleWorks), and the Microsoft Office XP suite. In addition, the lab contains several tables with adjacent network and power outlets so that students can use the high-speed internet connection with their laptops. The lab's laser printers are equipped with infrared ports for convenient printing from infrared-equipped devices such as laptops or handhelds. FacilitiesCalvary Baptist Theological Seminary meets in the facilities of Calvary Baptist Church. The new seminary library and administrative building were completed in 1999. The church parking lot provides off-street parking. A collegiate-size gymnasium may be used by students for exercise and recreation. There are over 1100 members in Calvary Baptist Church. Many members of the church are in preparation for Gospel service. Students are thus able to observe and participate in a local church which successfully employs the principles of the classroom. Many opportunities for ministry are available to students through the church; a ministry guide is available to individuals wishing to see the various opportunities open to them and may be requested in the church office. BookstoreCalvary Baptist Bookstore provides books and supplies for the convenience of faculty and students. In addition to books needed for course work, the store carries a modest stock of other titles. Books not in stock may be ordered. |
